SoCalCycling.com takes a look at the technology behind the all-new 7 Series Trek Madone. After two years of testing, feedback and development by dozens of engineers, the all-new Trek Madone incorporates aerodynamics, weight, technology, performance and ride feel.
The new Trek Madone is ridden by and put to the test by the RadioShack-Nissan-Trek ProTour Team at the demanding 2012 Tour de France.
An interesting note in this day of outsourcing, is that each Trek Madone frame is hand built by some of the best carbon craftsmen from Trek’s proprietary OCLV Carbon in their US manufacturing facility in Waterloo, WI.

Brakeless Seatstay
Madone’s integrated brakes allowed Trek to redesign the seatstay, eliminating the brake bridge and removing reinforcing layers to shed weight without compromising performance. Unrestricted by the need for a brake mount, the stays are positioned for best performance with the KVF shape for maximum aero benefit.

Integrated Brakes
Trek built front and rear brakes directly into the Madone fuselage to keep them hidden from the wind, reducing drag. In addition to improving aerodynamics, integrating the brakes eliminates the need for mounting plates and bolts, saving weight.

DuoTrap Compatible
DuoTrap seamlessly integrates the computer sensor into the frame to measure speed, distance, and cadence with no added aerodynamic drag. It works with all the major ANT+ wireless technology players, including Bontrager, Garmin, PowerTap, and SRM.

KVF Fork
The Madone’s all-new fork features KVF aero legs to minimize drag. Its ride-tuned sweep increases compliance for greater comfort, and unique molded carbon dropouts reduce weight and optimize the wheelbase. The new fork also increases lateral stiffness for ultra-precise handling.
