Cycling Community Mourns Loss of Michael Herdman

The Southern California Cycling Community is mourning the loss of Michael Herdman who had been missing since June 13th in the Los Padres National Forest near Fillmore, CA. Herdman, an Arcadia Firefighter and experienced outdoorsman, was camping with a friend. It was reported that he went missing after his dog, Duke, ran away and he chased after him, but failed to return to camp. Sadly, Herdman was found less than a mile from his camp on a steep cliff above the Sespe River on Friday, June 27.

Mike Herdman was a Category 1 cyclist that most recently competed for the Rokform / Rock N Road and Velo Club LaGrange Teams. Mike was well-liked, friendly and outgoing. On the bike, he was a strong competitor and great teammate.
