Chloe Dygert Re-signs with TWENTY16 Ridebiker for 2017


Elite track and Junior World Champion and Olympic Medalist set to ride another season with U.S. based squad

World Champion and Olympic Silver Medalist Chloe Dygert has re-signed for the 2107 season with TWENTY16 RIDEBIKER Professional Cycling. Dygert, a native of Brownsburg, Indiana continues to flourish in the program, adding versatility and experience to the long-standing and dominant Twenty16 RideBiker team.

“I’m so blessed to be able to comeback and be apart of Twenty16 RideBiker. It will be my 4th year with the team and I have learned so much from teammates and staff over these years. Kristin Armstrong will be coaching me in 2017 and I am stoked to see where I can go working with her as a coach. She was there for my first pro race and I was there for her very last. With her focus on the coaching aspect of the team now, I am confident our team can achieve new goals. It’s going to be a great year!” said Dygert.

2015 and 2016 seasons proved to be huge for Dygert. Winning both the junior road and time trial world championships in 2015 and then in 2016 riding to medals at the World and Olympic Games was an obvious indication of the young athlete’s talent. Dygert quickly switched focus to the team pursuit for the US, utilizing her power and precision. With a strong engine and on-form fitness, Dygert attended her first track world Cup this season, and then went on to ride to a world championship title in London in team pursuit.

With the Twenty16 RideBiker racing program allowing her to share her focus and skills on the track as well as race on the road.

“2016 was a breakout year for Chloe winning an Olympic Silver medal and World Championship in the Team Pursuit. We are thrilled to have her rejoin us for 2017 and feel very good about how that supports our up and coming GC rider Leah Thomas, who stepped up in 2016 to show success in any GC situation. We feel confident building our team around the strength of these two key returning players, we also have some talented additions to be announced,” said Mari Holden, Sport Director, Twenty16 RideBiker.

Dygert raced a limited road schedule in 2016 however showcased her talents garnering a best young rider jersey, along with a 6th place GC and a stage in the team time trial at Amgen Tour of California women’s World Tour. Dygert finished a solid 8th place in the individual time trial at Professional National Championships in Winston Salem before complete focus on the team pursuit at the Rio Olympic Games.

She is an exceptional athlete with a lot still to learn on the road.” commented general manager, Nicola Cranmer, ” After an intense build to Rio in the track program, she is ready for a strong road focus and I am excited to see what she can accomplish next year. Olympic gold medalist Kristin Armstrong will be coaching Chloé, in hopes to maximize the combination of Chloé’s raw power with Armstrong’s time trialing expertise. This should prove to be a formidable combination.”

2017 will see limited track schedule for Dygert with her racing in the LA World Cup in February followed by World Championships. Her primary focus will be on Nationals Road Championships and qualifying for the World Championships road team.

Dygert recently married U23 rider Logan Owen, a rising cycling star on the Axeon Hagens Berman Cycling Team.
