Lake Elizabeth Road Race and Chuck Pontius Criterium are on Tap for this Weekend

Santa Clarita Velo will be putting on the Lake Elizabeth Road Race on Saturday, March 18th and the Chuck Pontius Criterium on Sunday, March 19th this weekend.

The Lake Elizabeth Road Race March 18th will serve as the Women’s Masters SCNCA Championship Road Race, as well as the Men’s Super Masters SCNCA Championship Road Race.

Saturday’s road race is a 14 mile lap with a 1000 feet of elevation gain. The road race distances for the Lake Elizabeth Road Race range from 28 miles (Cat 5) to 84 miles (Pro 1-2).

If your up for the challenge, the Lake Elizabeth Road Race will definitely challenge your fitness and endurance. Come out and support a solid road road course that are becoming hard to secure so you can do USAC road racing. The Santa Clarita Velo Club really does a great job securing these races for the SoCal calendar.

The Chuck Pontius Memorial Criterium is held in Santa Clarita on the following day on Sunday March 19th.

The Chuck Pontius Memorial Criterium course is a .9 mile course with a slight rise just before the finish. This a great criterium if it is your first criterium as it’s not super technical but still challenging course. I think this is one of my favorite criteriums.

The criterium races will start at 7:30am for the Cat 5 race and will run through 2:55 pm for the Pro 1-2.  The field limits are 75 to 100.

Having a great road race on Saturday and fun criterium on Sunday makes for a great weekend for racing.
