Serious Cycling Jailhouse Race Update, Course Revised
6/11/12 - SoCalCycling.com received the following message from the organizers of the Serious Cycling Jailhouse Race which takes place this Saturday on June 16. "We have an important update on our race after our last planning meeting with the Pitchess Detention Center Sheriff’s staff. The race format will change from the originally designed 3.75 mile circuit race to a .75 mile criterium.
This change is due to several factors beyond everyone’s control. In summary, the jail facility very recently had to withstand a large influx of new inmates from other facilities. To accommodate this growth formerly closed areas of the Pitchess facility were just reopened. This untimely increase in jail population has consumed extra resources and as a result we have had to reduce the scope of our race course this year.
This year’s race course will include the lower portion of the original design, is an exciting course, and will still race around a Jail House!
Everyone involved in producing the race remains excited and committed. The prize list for both men and women remain the same, so grab your team and bring the pain train!" Updated Flyer >
