This weekend is stacked with a variety of great cycling events to do or watch!
On March 13-15, the Tucson Bicycle Classic offers a fun, well-run 3-day stage race in Tucson, Arizona that consists of a time trial, road race and circuit race. The beautiful Arizona desert and great courses always make the Tucson Bicycle Classic a fantastic event to travel to. The Time Trial gets underway on Friday and the Start List has been announced.
Closer to home, the popular Tour de Murrieta also kicks off on Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15 in Murrieta, CA. The event is an Omnium format that consists of a Time Trial, Grand Prix Criterium and Circuit Race. Riders can compete in all three days or each day individually. The Jorge Alvarado Team Competition, presented by The Mill Restaurant, will award a specially designed Crystal trophy in each Category to the team having the highest placed five riders within the top thirty of the final General Classification. In addition, there will be a kids’ race on Saturday at 12:05 pm and registration is free (just bring a canned food item donation to benefit the local food pantry). The Start Times have been announced for the Time Trial on Friday.
On Saturday, March 14th, the Solvang Century and Half Century will take place in the beautiful, rolling hills of the Solvang area. After the ride, there will also be a will be a Cycling Festival with over 30 cycling related vendors, a live DJ for your musical entertainment, massage therapists, cold draft beer and food.
For the mountain bikers, Cannondale is teaming up with the USA Cycling US Cup presented by Sho-Air. Cannondale is the official bike sponsor of this cross country race series and is bringing the party to the pits with the Lefty Lounge on March 14th at Bonelli Park. Come hang out and cheer on Cannondale Factory Racing riders Marco Fontana and Mani Fumic.
