February 21, 2023
We hope this email finds you well. Unfortunately, the UCLA Cycling team has made the decision to CANCEL this event. Forecasts have shown dangerous weather conditions on the race course near Juniper Hills and Pearblossom – including a foot of snow accumulating from Friday Feb 24th through Saturday Feb 25th, below-freezing temperatures, and icy road conditions. Furthermore, roads in the race course will be covered with gravel for the safety of the local residents driving on them when they are iced over. We know this decision may be frustrating to some, but we prioritize the safety and enjoyment of our participants and cannot see a path forward for the road race this Saturday, nor any chance of rescheduling the event later this season due to scheduling conflicts. Registration is now closed, and refunds for any pre-registrants will be issued beginning later today.
We thank you for your interest in participating in the UCLA Road Race this year, and would like to emphasize that our partner race this weekend, on Sunday Feb 26th, the Majestic Criterium in Ontario, CA, is still being held. Pre-registration for the crit can be found on http://bikereg.com/majestic-crit and is open until Thursday at the end of the day (11:59pm). Members of the UCLA Cycling team will be racing and helping to run/support the event throughout the day, so we hope to see you there! If you have any questions, feel free to use the contact information below.

From humble beginnings on a memorial day weekend in 1985, the event, featuring 350 elite racers, has hosted future stars of the Olympics, Tour de France, and World Championships. The Redlands Bicycle Classic’s long heritage of attracting future stars has earned its position in history: “Where Legends are Born!”
