After a thirteen-month-long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, bike racing is finally returning this weekend to Southern California.
This past year has been challenging for the cycling event promoters and racers alike, so it is nice to see the return of competitive cycling.
In addition, this week California Governor Newsom announced the goal of reopening the economy by June 15th providing some light at the end of the tunnel. California will reopen as a state and not by county, which will hopefully bring us one step closer to allowing event promoters to plan a little easier with regards to permitting, and we will see more California cycling events return with the appropriate COVID safety measures put in place emerge soon when deemed safe.
A great lineup of cycling events will be taking place this weekend in Southern California with the Majestic Crit and the Southridge Winter Series mountain bike event.
Majestic Criterium
The Majestic Grit in Ontario is kicking off the road racing season in Ontario on the L-shaped long course. The Pro Men’s and Women’s race will feature an equal prize list and is sponsored by Legion of Los Angeles.
Southridge Winter Series
This weekend mountain bikers will also compete at the Southridge Winter Series at Southridge Park in Fontana. The lineup includes Downhill, Cross Country and Enduro events.
