The final week of the 2023 La Vuelta a España has been epic as American Sepp Kuss (Team Jumbo–Visma) fought to hold on to the red leaders jersey over the mountains in Spain, where he met pressure from rival teams. Kuss also had to navigate some questionable tactics from his own Team Jumbo Vismo teammates Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic that cost him time and the possibility of losing the Overall GC. Cycling fans on social media were quick to chime in with some harsh criticisms of the tactics of Vingegaard and Roglic calling them selfish since Sepp helped both of them win Grand Tours this year, while a few saw nothing wrong with their tactics.
Whatever your viewpoint is on their tactics, the 2023 edition of the Vuelta was an awesome race from start to finish, and even more special to have Sepp Kuss take the Overall win, who just a few years ago in 2016 opened eyes when he won the Oak Glen/ Yucaipa Stage at the Redlands Bicycle Classic.
