Strait Acres Dual Slalom Announce Exciting Collaboration
Over the Hump Mountain Bike Race Series and Strait Acres Dual Slalom announced a collaboration to bring Cross Country and Dual Slalom mountain bike disciplines together to offer an energy-packed bike experience which begins Friday, August 9, and Saturday, August 10 followed by September 6 and 7, ending on November 8, and 9, 2024. The November 10 cross country portion of Over the Hump will be the OC MTB Limestone Canyon Wilderness Race, as the 3rd race in the series, for Sport to Elite class racers.
Over the Hump: A Legacy of Community and Competition
Since 2009, Over the Hump has called Irvine Lake home, evolving into a weekly summer event of 500 passionate two wheelers turning wheels on dirt. “Over the Hump was a dream to provide our two wheeled tribe, racers and non-racers, a place to gather and celebrate the sport they love, right here in their backyard,” remembers Matt Wenger, co-founder of Over the Hump. “Over the Hump is where we come together for a family party, that happens to be a bike race.”
Pro purse payouts and impeccably flowy Kyle Strait-built dual slalom courses are the signature of Strait Acres. Both first time Dual Slalom racers and the big name Dual Slalom pros will find a home at this unique event.
Strait Acres: Built by Racers, For Racers
Founded in 2016, Strait Acres became a reality when Kyle and Rachel Strait bought their dream property in East County San Diego! It all started as a way to showcase the property builds and bring stoke to the riding community. In 2020, when a majority of race events were canceled around the World, Kyle and Rachel had an idea to host an invite only slalom event at their house! Their original event launched the Straits into providing a race “built by racers, for racers”.
Kyle Strait, a freeride slopestyle mountain biker and multi-year winner of Red Bull Rampage has distinguished himself as a premier course builder and race promoter. In 2022 Strait has been building the Dual Slalom course at Sea Otter Classic and co-hosted the Strait Acres Invitational at Big Bear Lake, California.

Rachel and Kyle are excited to be linking arms with Over the Hump, in Orange County to bring the bike community together in Southern California later this summer and fall.
Rachel Strait said, “We are so excited to be partnering with a powerhouse like Over The Hump! I have been a fan of (their) work, and involvement in the community for a long time now. To grow the sport of Dual Slalom and make it accessible to all is our goal, and we can’t wait to watch the action unfold.”

Event Highlights and Community Activities
The combined event will feature Strait Acres Dual Slalom qualifying on Fridays, Dual Slalom Elimination Rounds on Saturdays along with the full 35 class cross-country Over the Hump Mountain Bike Race Series. Families will love the events for the activities including Tikes, Bikes and Trikes Races for 0-5 yrs, Kids Races, bounce houses, face painting, food trucks, music, and loads of bike industry booths and supporting businesses.
