Chris Horner Celebrates His Birthday with a Win at Spooky Cross
10/24/10 For Chris Horner there was no better way to celebrate his 39th birthday than by participating in a bike race. Chris Horner started in his first cyclocross of the season and won that race as the fastest rider of all the participants. The fifth race of the Southern California Prestige Series of Cyclocross was a night race and was a Halloween-themed cyclocross with a lot of music, madness and costumes.
“It was really fun”, explained Chris Horner. “The race was done under the lights at 8:30 PM, there were a lot of people and an amazing atmosphere. Apart from that, the level of the race was not bad at all with all the best SoCal cyclocross riders. As Irvine is only one hour from my home, I really wanted to celebrate my birthday by doing that bike race. I ended the road season in the Tour of Lombardy with a good condition. It would have been a pity not to use that good shape. As I did in the past, I will probably do some more cyclocross races this winter, just for fun, without taking any risks. The 2011 road season for Team RadioShack is too important but at my age it is better not to take a too long winter rest.”
The 2010 season of Chris Horner was one of his bests. He won the time trial and the overall classification in the Tour of the Basque Country and finished tenth in the Tour de France. Chris Horner also obtained top-ten places in the Tour of California, Dauphiné Libéré, Critérium International, Tour of Sardinia, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Flèche Wallonne and Amstel Gold Race.
