Stage two of the San Dimas Stage Race provided epic conditions for the riders with cold rain and wind gusts throughout the day. Due to the inclement weather, the time cut has been revised for many categories. Check the Communique for full details for each category on the time cut. The Pro Men’s race saw Joseph Schmalz (Elbows Racing) win the sprint from a breakaway, with Andy Jacques (Kenda/5hr Energy p/b Geargrinder) move into the leaders jersey with a 2 second lead over Schmalz. According to the Communique in the women’s race, “Due to the severity and unpredictable weather patterns moving through, the Women’s race was shortened by one lap. Because it was not possible to give sufficient notice for the leaders to engage a final sprint, the following decision was made concerning time bonuses: The hotspot sprints were all awarded as scheduled at the finish line. The stage finish bonuses and points were combined and distributed equally among the four leaders.” Photo Gallery >
