The Redlands Bicycle Classic wrapped up the 32nd edition with the grueling Sunset Road Race and final stage on Sunday.
In the Pro Women’s race, the course took it’s toll with 21 women making the lead group. From this group, Leah Thomas (Twenty16-RideBiker) won in a sprint to the line ahead of Scotti Lechuga (Hagen Berman / Supermint) in 2nd and Eri Yonamine (The Dare to Be Project) in 3rd. . Race Leader Kristin Armstrong-Savola maintained the race lead after finishing safely in the lead group for the Overall victory.
In the Pro Men’s race, a breakaway of fifteen riders escaped the field on the second lap, without Race Leader Janier Acevedo (Team Jamis). As the lead group hit the finishing circuits, Team Jamis had failed to close the gap which moved Matteo Dal-Cin (Silber Pro Cycling) into the lead and yellow jersey as the Overall winner of the Pro Men’s race.
Travis McCabe (Holowesko / Citadel pb Hincapie) took the win after some aggressive finishing laps. Ulises Castillo (KHS-Maxxis-JL Velo), who won the Stage 4’s Criterium, continued his good results for 2nd GC. Neilson Powless (Axeaon Hagens Berman) rounded out the podium for 3rd in GC.
