Tour de Big Bear and the Mammoth Gran Fondo Partner to Create the California Pass Challenge

Two of California’s most spectacular high altitude road rides, Tour de Big Bear and the Mammoth Gran Fondo, have partnered to create the California Pass Challenge!  The 2016 California Pass Challenge requires participation in the Tour de Big Bear on August 6th and Mammoth Gran Fondo on September 10th.

“High altitude endurance events provide a big challenge for the participant and to be able to ride TWO of California’s best, at a discounted price, is a very special opportunity” stated Bill Cockcroft, Senior Vice President, Special Events, Mammoth Resorts, Inc.

Riders choose from “The Climb”, the 100 mile Tour de Big Bear course AND the 102 Mile Mammoth Gran Fondo (13,858 feet climbing) or “The Grand Tour” 70 Mile option at Tour de Big Bear and 72 Mile Mammoth Gran Fondo (8,415 feet climbing).  While the summer sun beats down on California, these two rides offer cool mountain air and California’s most spectacular scenery with mountains, lakes, rivers, meadows all at between 6500 – 10,000 feet in elevation.

Participants who enter and conquer both rides will receive a special discounted entry, all the benefits and amenities of both rides individually, PLUS will receive a special commemorative shirt and race plate for the California Pass Challenge!

“Ride with Us at the Big Bear Cycling Festival July 30 – August 7, the only week long cycling festival in the United States with daily rides and cycling activities for the entire family”  stated Craig Smith, President of Big Bear Cycling.
