A full lineup of cycling events is taking place this weekend with the Malibu GranFondo, UCLA Road Race, South Mountain Classic Circuit Race and CBR / JL VELO Carson Crit.
The Malibu GRANFONDO, “America’s Five Star Gran Fondo”, offers a unique two-day experience through some of Southern California’s best riding with a beautiful and diverse landscape, traversing rolling terrain, agricultural farmland, scenic coastline, and an epic climb to a summit finish in the Santa Monica Mountains. Day two is a 20-kilometer point-to-point “race of truth” time trial on the Pacific Coast Highway.
This Saturday on February 11th, the UCLA Road Race takes place in the high desert of Pearblossom, near Lancaster. Riders will race along a 12.4 mile course with 1,500 feet of climbing per lap with a fast descent and will do it all over again on each lap. The UCLA Road Race is one of the harder road races in Southern California and becomes a race of attrition with top climbers finishing in the lead group.
Located in Phoenix, Arizona, the South Mountain Classic Circuit Race features a one-mile rolling Circuit Race in beautiful South Mountain Park. The circuit race is run criterium style.
The CBR Series continues with race #4 in Carson, CA. Riders will race on a fast four corner crit.
