SoCalCycling.com Team Finds Success and Podiums
The SoCalCycling.com Team was selected to race in the Tour of the Gila for the second year in a row and put in a respectable race against some of the bigger budgeted Pro / Am Cycling teams despite being an underdog.
Irish rider Conn McDunphy (SoCalCycling.com Team) was off the front in many breakaways throughout the Tour of the Gila Downtown Silver City Criterium and then soloed in the last few laps before getting caught leading into the finish. This set up SoCalCycling.com Team sprinters Theo Obholzer and Mike Santillanes Garcia for the sprint where they finished 2nd and 6th respectively for a spot on the podium
McDunphy also finished in the top ten in several stages and finished 12th in Overall GC after riding in the break and finishing 11th in the epic The Gila Monster Road Race.
U23 rider Aden Wardrop (SoCalCycling.com Team) finished 4th Overall in the UCI Men Elite U23 and also spent time off the front in a breakaway in the Inner Loop Road Race.
Racing the Tour of the Gila was a great opportunity for the SoCalCycling.com Team to race against the bigger teams in a high-quality UCI stage race and was rewarding to find success!
