The Chevron Manhattan Beach Grand Prix, one of the most prestigious cycling events in Southern California, celebrated its 60th Anniversary marking six decades of thrilling races, community engagement, and a rich history of promoting cycling as a sport for professionals as well as amateurs from across the nation.
The Manhattan Beach Grand Prix was held under warm and humid conditions in the beachside community of Manhattan Beach. The event featured a generous $20,500 purse with $7,800 in primes including $1,400 in cash.
The Pro 1/2 Men’s race ended with a field sprint with Justin Williams (L39ion of Los Angeles) taking the win ahead of Eddie Cruz (Butcher Box Cycling) in 2nd and last years winner Cory Williams (L39ion of Los Angeles) in 3rd.
The Women’s 1-3 race saw Colleen Gulick (Team Skyline) take the win from a small breakaway followed by Lauren Rathbun (Incycle Team) in 2nd and Mary Joyce Monton (Austin Aviators) in 3rd.
The Manhattan Beach Grand Prix also held the Southern California Elite State Criterium Championships, which saw race winner Colleen Gulick (Team Skyline) and 2nd place finisher Eddie Cruz (Butcher Box Cycling) take top honors to claim the Criterium Championship titles. Joseph Emmerling won the Criterium Championship title in the Cat 3 men’s category.
