The Big Bear Cycling Association (BBCA) in conjunction with Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation and the United States Adaptive Recreation Center (USARC) are thrilled to announce the addition of adaptive event categories for the 2025 Tour de Big Bear. Para cyclists, hand cyclists, and aMTB riders will have the opportunity to ride across the stunning and challenging roads, trails, and gravel tracks of the Southern California Mountains. This expansion underscores the BBCA’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that more athletes can experience the thrill of cycling in the scenic Big Bear Lake region.
In alignment with the standards set by UCI, Tour de Big Bear has curated specific events accommodating a wide array of impairment types. Adaptive athletes can now participate in road, gravel, and mountain bike events, with the freedom to ride and compete alongside all other cyclists.
To further support the Para cycling community, Tour de Big Bear offers an exclusive discount of 50% off registration fees for para cyclists. Additionally, thanks to the generous support of Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, the first 50 Handcycle and aMTB riders to RSVP will receive free entry, encouraging early participation and enthusiasm; this includes their support rider. The road course, with its spectacular lake views, offers a 26.4-mile challenge with an elevation gain of 1300 feet, especially demanding in its final 2.5 miles. Meanwhile, the Dirty Burro aMTB course spans 13 to 15 miles, weaving through paved streets, dirt roads, and intricate single tracks through tall pines for a unique ride experience. The latter is designed as a non-competitive timed ride, welcoming various aMTB off road equipment.
Both gravel and aMTB rides will traverse the picturesque trails of Maple Hill, with final routes set to be revealed in June.
