The 2025 Chevron Manhattan Beach Grand Prix, one of Southern California’s most prestigious cycling events, celebrated its 62nd anniversary—marking over six decades of exciting racing, strong community involvement, and a proud tradition of supporting both amateur and professional cyclists from across the nation.
Held in the scenic coastal town of Manhattan Beach, the event offered a generous prize purse and served as the host for the Elite Criterium State Championships, drawing top talent to the fast-paced beachfront circuit.
The Pro 1/2 Men’s race featured an early breakaway that formed on the first lap and successfully held off a determined, hard-chasing field. The relentless pace took its toll, gradually thinning the peloton as riders struggled to stay with the group. Despite the efforts of the chase, they were unable to close the gap. In the end, the ten-man breakaway stayed clear, with Alex Akins (Team Mike’s Bikes p/b Equator Coffees and Teas) powering to victory. Cory Williams (Golden State Blazers) secured second, while Clever Martinez (CRCA/Foundation) rounded out the podium in third.
The Women’s 1-3 race came down to a fast and competitive field sprint, where Southern California’s Kendall Ryan (L39ion of Los Angeles) powered to victory. Marlies Mejias Garcia (Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY28) claimed second place, with Anita Yvonne Stenberg (IK Hero) finishing close behind in third.
