2026 UCI World Championships Time Trial Champions
The 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montréal began with four individual time trials featuring the world’s leading riders in the Elite and Under-23 categories. The demanding Montréal courses tested riders with technical sections, fast stretches and challenging climbs toward the finish, producing four new world champions and several memorable performances.

Elite Men: Remco Evenepoel Wins Fourth Straight World Title
Remco Evenepoel successfully defended his Elite Men’s individual time trial world championship, completing the 39.2-kilometer course in 44:53.13. The Belgian controlled the race from the early time checks and became the first rider to win the Elite Men’s world time trial title four consecutive times. Filippo Ganna (Italy) finished second, while France’s Paul Seixas earned the bronze medal.
Elite Women: Marlen Reusser Defends World Title
Marlen Reusser retained the Elite Women’s rainbow jersey with a winning time of 50:24.44. Racing on her 35th birthday, the Swiss rider overcame a slower opening section to produce a powerful second half and finish more than 40 seconds ahead of Great Britain’s Zoe Bäckstedt. Germany’s Franziska Koch completed the podium in third.
U23 Men: Ryan Gal Wins World Championship
Ryan Gal delivered one of the day’s biggest surprises by winning the U23 Men’s individual time trial world title. The Dutch rider covered the 31.3-kilometer course in 37:26.16, using a strong second half to move clear of the competition. Italy’s Nicolas Milesi finished seven seconds behind for silver, while Spain’s Héctor Álvarez took bronze. American Ashlin Barry finished fourth.
U23 Women: Felicity Wilson-Haffenden Takes Gold
Felicity Wilson-Haffenden claimed the U23 Women’s individual time trial world championship on the 20.3-kilometer Montréal course. The Australian built her advantage through the middle portion of the race before finishing in 27:40.72, 28 seconds ahead of Nienke Vinke of the Netherlands. Belgium’s Luca Vierstraete took the bronze medal.
2026 UCI World Championships Time Trial Highlights
The four time trials provided an early showcase of the different generations competing for the rainbow jersey in Montréal. Evenepoel and Reusser added to their world championship records in the elite races, while Wilson-Haffenden and Gal emerged as the newest U23 individual time trial champions.
