The 55th Chevron Manhattan Beach Grand Prix will be held in Manhattan Beach, California on Sunday, August 7 on the traditional course at Live Oak Park.
With $21,500 in total prize money, there will be seven USA Cycling races. The headline races are the Women’s Pro 1-3 race at 1:00pm and the Men’s Pro 1-2 race at 2:00pm. Both races offer a maximum of $8,000 total in prize money.
Also highlighting the event is the 50 minute Junior 15-18 1-4 race this year showcasing the area’s future Pro’s and offering $1,500 in total prize money. The first 50 Juniors to register will do so for free thanks to CalBikeLaw.
Racing begins at 7:00am with the Men’s 4 race. Other races include Masters 50-60+ 1-4; 35+ 3,4; 40+ 1-3; and Category 3.
The always-popular Kids’ Races will be held at noon, before the Women’s Pro 1-3 race. For the first time this year the Chevron Manhattan Beach Grand Prix will also have a Chevron Kids’ Zone, which is free for children ages 2-12. The Zone will include face painting, temporary tattoos, color hair spray, games, balloon animals, a photo booth, hot dogs, cookies, drinks, and a t-shirt.
