Held in San Diego’s North County, the Canyon Belgian Waffle Ride is the only Euro-style Spring Classic on American soil and features insanity, challenges and the unparalleled experiences that have made the event infamous. The Canyon BWR attracts world-class cyclists from around the world. It has a cult following of fervent racers from cyclocross, road and mountain biking. It’s known as much for its difficulty, with all the glorious trappings of the Belgian Spring Classics, as it is for the celebratory atmosphere that pervades the event’s every funky facet.

The Belgian Waffle Ride covers 133 miles in distance and there is also be a shorter and only half as painful Belgian Wafer Ride, as well as a Canyon Pure Cycling Expo Festival. 

Created by Michael Marckx, the 2019 edition of the Canyon Belgian Waffle Ride did not disappoint and was the fastest edition.  Peter Stetina (Trek-Segefredo) won the Belgian Waffle Ride with the fastest time of 6.20.37.156.  Sarah Sterm (Team Specialized x Rocket Espresso) cruised to victory in the Belgian Waffle Ride Women’s race with a time of 07.23.33.290.
