“It is really special to win this race three times in a row,” said Ryan on last night’s victory. “My teammates Nina and Sharlotte absolutely emptied the tank today for me. I could not have secured this victory without their selfless work covering all the attacks throughout the race. We had everything but the kitchen sink thrown at us, but we raced smart and were able to pull it off. Who knows, maybe next year I can win again and be the first person ever to make it 4 years in a row.”
Held in Vancouver’s oldest neighborhood, the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix is one of the most popular one-day races in North America, featuring big prize money, animated, crowd-lined streets and some of the world’s top racers.
In Tuesday’s race, Jackson broke away from the field on the grueling New West Grand Prix course, winning the race by 6 seconds ahead of her competitors. With rain coming down and the course getting slippery, Jackson attacked on the back half of the course up the steep Carnarvon Street Hill. In Jackson’s post-race interview, she said, “I felt good on the climb, so I just went all in and then looked behind me on the final straight, and it was clear. I did that for the crowd – it’s fun to kind of gamble like that, and I think the crowd appreciated it.”
Jackson also won Sunday’s White Spot | Delta Road Race and Ryan took Saturday’s Tour de Delta Ladner Criterium, in addition to the Gastown Grand Prix.
“BC Superweek is truly a top-notch race series, and I’m beyond thrilled at our team’s continued results here in Canada,” said Linda Jackson, Founder of Team TIBCO – Silicon Valley Bank. “The team is riding consistently strong and cohesively, and it’s great to see the Team TIBCO – Silicon Valley Bank colors flying across the line first, with roaring crowds – and live stream video. The community, race organizers and volunteers that surround this race are truly incredible, and we’re glad to be here.”
