A Look at the Shimano Ultegra 11 Speed Mechanical Groupset

Hot on the heels of SRAM launching the new 22 speed RED and Force 22 groupsets, Shimano has launched the new 11 speed Ultegra gruppo that borrows many of the features from the current Dura-Ace 11 speed mechanical groupset.

Shimano also was able to drop some of the weight of the new groupset, while making it more affordable. This could be a game changer for Shimano. Shimano already has an Ultegra electronic version that also borrows heavily from the Dura-Ace electronic group.

Shimano’s group is reportedly slightly cheaper than SRAM’s 22 Force group, but slightly heavier. It will be interesting to see what the feedback is on these new groupsets.

Check out the slideshow below to see the new components. They should be available sometime in September.
