Specialized BG S-Works Road Shoe Product Review
By Mike Tettleton

Body Geometry is Specialized’s term for their parts, accessories, and apparel that are highly engineered to fit like a glove (no pun intended) and to increase your comfort and performance on the bike.   Their top of the line S-Works shoe bears the Body Geometry name.  When picking up the pair in the box, you’ll almost swear there is only one shoe in there; they’re that light.  Their weightlessness comes in part thanks to a super-stiff FACT carbon fiber sole, which transfers power to the pedal efficiently.   The Body Geometry footbed features a metatarsal button and longitudinal arch support which helps eliminate the infamous “hot foot.”  The shoe’s upper is a mix of mesh and Micromatrix, which ventilates well and keeps your foot cool in the hot summer months. The retention system is the easiest to use and arguably the most comfortable in the bike industry.  Simply turn the knob and it uniformly tightens the shoe on your foot; there’s no fooling around with two velcro straps and a ratchet buckle.

On the road, they’re fantastic.  They’re stiff, light, ventilated, and there isn’t a hint of lost energy when pedaling.  I’ve used this shoe for about six months and am in love.  But my relationship with the S-works shoe didn’t begin this year; I used the S-works mountain bike shoe all of last year and loved it the same.  This shoe is a bit spendy at  $275, however it’s not likely you’ll find a better shoe at any price.
