Thursday Night Racing Series at Great Park Adds Junior and Women's Clinic

8/12/11 - A Junior and Women's Cycling Clinic in conjunction with the regular Thursday Night Race Series at the Orange County Great Park has been announced. The goal is getting more juniors and women into road cycling. The third and final 2011 Junior Clinic At Great Park is scheduled for Thursday, August 18 at 5 pm at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine. Pro racer Brandon Gritters will provide the training and guidance for the juniors. Rock 'n Road Cyclery will take care of all race fees for participating juniors with no cost to participate!!   There will also be awards for the top three in each of the two age groups (10 - 14 and 15 - 18). A Women's Clinic will be promoted by A Road Bike 4U on August 25, with valuable skills taught by experienced professional riders.t

The course will be the same course used for the Thursday Night series, and the riders will be on it without any other groups. The Thursday Night Racing Series has always encouraged juniors and women to participate, but usually does not have enough participants to have a separate group for them, so race with the normal race categories. These special events will allow both groups to race with their specific category and learn road cycling from more experienced riders at the clinics.

ages 10-14 & 14 - 18

Women’s Special Race Night
August 25th.
5:00 - Clinic, 5:30 Race
Beginner - Cat 3
Pro Women Cat 1-2 - will race at 6:15

The normal racing schedule will begin at 6:15 pm. All standard fee apply.
All rules and guidelines of USCF will be in effect.
