The early road season in the US has been marked by the iconic SRAM Tour of the Gila for the past 25 years. With SRAM extending its sponsorship to 2012, the May 2-6 event will be number 26.
Considered one of the hardest and hilliest races in the US, the SRAM Tour of the Gila takes place in the beautiful mountain ranges surrounding Silver City, NM, at 6000 feet of elevation. The race regularly features top domestic talent who race five stages – one criterium, one time trial, and three road stages – with approximately 15,000 feet of climbing. The “Gila” is now a UCI 2.2 and has been added to the America Tour calendar. The race will also be covered via Tour Tracker, so fans can follow the most intimate details of the race on their mobile device. SRAM’s Neutral Race Support team will be onsite providing, what else, neutral race support. Rosters >
