We are saddened to report that Patrik Ericsson was hit by a car while out on a training ride on Thursday morning in the Valencia area. The car was traveling 45-50 miles per hour when striking him.
Patrik was transported by ambulance and treated at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where the Doctors found two fractured vertebrae. He was held overnight and hopes to be released soon.
Patrik, a professional cyclist from Sweden, recently traveled to Southern California to race and was looking forward to the upcoming Stage Races, including Tour de Murrieta, the San Dimas Stage Race and Redlands Bicycle Classic. Patrik recently had a strong 3rd place finish at the challenging Juniper Hills Classic Road Race, as well as an Overall Win at the Nine Mile Canyon Omnium last weekend.
