Interbike, the largest bicycle industry trade show in North America, today announced the details behind two ride experiences happening at OutDoor Demo (ODD) 2014. Innovative Timing is back for the 3rd straight year and will be managing The Bootleg Challenge at OutDoor Demo, and Ride 2 Recovery returns for another powerful road ride alongside some of our nation’s wounded veterans and industry attendees.
Innovative Timing has made some changes to their timed event, which will take place on both Monday, September 8 & 9, 2014. Using only the Skyline course from 2013, all attendees are encouraged to test the latest products at ODD in an attempt to win one of 4 prizes:
- Fastest off the Rock: Awarded to the male and female with the fastest time
- King of the Rock: Awarded to the male and female with the most attempts
One significant change from 2013 will be the placement of three checkpoints on the lower areas of the mountain. Retail bike shop employees that pass through these checkpoints will be eligible for a host of raffle prizes to be distributed on Tuesday, September 9th at 3:00pm in the awards tent. Attendees interested in participating in the Bootleg Challenge should register online.
“While we encourage all riders to come out and try The Bootleg Challenge, we also recognize that a good number of retailers are only interested in riding the trails on the lower portion of the mountain,” said Kurt Hansen, Founder and CEO of ITS. “By riding through the checkpoints on the designated lower trails, retailers will be eligible to win some really great raffle prizes.”
Veterans, active duty military and Interbike attendees are also encouraged to participate in the 2nd annual Ride 2 Recovery Interbike Honor Ride on Tuesday, September 9th at 8am. This inspirational ride will start in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center parking lot, just outside of the Interbike halls, and head for ODD in Boulder City, NV. This 26-mile ride will have a full police escort until the group reaches a rest stop at the Boulder City Trail, where hydration drinks and food will be provided.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own bikes, or work with exhibitors to arrange for demos to use on the ride. A power breakfast will be provided at the start courtesy of Bicycling Magazine, and riders can capture the entire ride with cameras loaned courtesy of Sony Electronics. Attendees interested in participating should register online.
Interbike returns to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center beginning with OutDoor Demo in Boulder City, Nev., September 8-9, 2014, followed by the Interbike Expo September 10-12, 2014.
