Results & Report: Redlands Bicycle Classic – City of Redlands Criterium

The Redlands Bicycle Classic continued today with Stage 4’s City of Redlands Criterium. A nice crowd came out to enjoy the great racing and expo area.

In the Pro Women’s race, the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team went 1-2 with a SoCal’s Coryn Rivera taking the win just ahead of teammate Alexis Ryan. Leah Kirchmann (Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) rounded out the podium for 3rd. Mara Abbott (LA Sweat) held on the her GC lead.

The Pro Men’s race got underway after a blessing from the San Manuel Band of Indians. A breakaway escaped the field and held it to the end with Brendan Rhim (California Giant / Specialized) taking the win ahead of  Luis Amaran (Jamis Hagens Berman p/b Sutter Home)  in 2nd and Ulises Castillo (KHS – Maxxis-JL Velo) in 3rd.

Unfortunately, Race Leader Phil Gaimon crashed with 5 to go, but fell into the window where no time was lost and was able to maintain his GC lead.

Tomorrow, the riders will tackle the grueling Sunset Road Race for the final stage as race leaders Gaimon and  Abbott defend their lead for the Overall Win.
