1-2 for the Women and 1-2-3 in the Men’s Race
USA Crits Series – Pro Women’s Race
Saturday evening saw the 2021 Boise Twilight Criterium take over the streets of Boise, Idaho, as part of the USA Crits Series. For L39ION of LA, the first race was the women’s pro 1/2, and after 60 minutes Skyler Schneider sailed across the line to take the win after a superb lead-out by Kendall Ryan who held onto second.
“It was hard to stay on Skyler’s wheel today in the race- with the new National Championship jersey no one gives an inch! But today the plan was to set up Skyler for the sprint and keep her safe, we did a great job sharing the work, Julyn was out there covering moves, Amber was out there as well. It was great to see the L39ion jerseys. The plan was on the back straight to rush whichever train chose to take charge, I went a little bit earlier than planned, but I think it was a good call. We had some nice real estate between us. We went 1-2 on the finish! It was a fun ride and felt great to be a part of someone else’s win.” – Kendall Ryan
“It feels great to be here in Boise, I just want to thank Kendall and Amby and Julyn for all their work tonight. We came up with the plan and we could execute it pretty spot on. It’s been special with this team being able to do that and we will try to keep doing that going forward.” – Skyler Schneider
USA Crits Series – Pro Men’s Race
While the sun dropped lower in the sky the men set off for their 75-minute race. As expected the racing was fast and aggressive and the field was whittled down, with high attrition each lap. When the bell lap rang the reduced bunch sprint was on, and we saw L39ION take 1-2-3 with Justin Williams, Cory Williams and Tyler Williams crossing the line.
“Another awesome win for the team. The team did an incredible ride, we were in control for the last 20 laps and the communication got better and better. Alec and Sam did an incredible job coming into two laps to go and then Tyler did an amazing job going into the backstretch at turns 3 and 4 and we were able to sit back and come out of the corner four deep and then Cory and Justin killed it. It was a great night for the team.” -Ty Magner
