Ride the Arroyo Seco Parkway
The 20th anniversary of 626 Golden Streets Arroyo Fest presented by Metro returns this Sunday on October 29th from 7-11 AM for a fun filled morning.
626 Golden Streets offered the following insights:
1. 626 Golden Streets is a free event! However we recommend bringing a few dollars to support local businesses along the route.
2. You get to decide where you start and finish. There is no right or wrong way to experience the event. You may access the event route via any on/off ramp from Avenue 26 in Lincoln Heights to Glenarm Avenue in Pasadena, as well as the Metro A Line (Lincoln Heights, Southwest Museum, South Pasadena stations)
3. 626 Golden Streets is NOT a race. Please stay right and share the open road so everyone can have a safe, enjoyable day!
4. All forms of active transportation are permitted, including walking, biking, skating, jogging, ambling, and strolling. E-assist wheelchairs, bicycles, skateboards, etc. are also allowed, however all event participants (whether on standard or e-assist devices) shall ride in a safe and courteous manner, yielding to slower moving persons.
5. Please Walk on the West Side and Roll on the East!
West Side (Southbound) lanes will be reserved for pedestrians, including walkers, runners, wheelchair users, and young children with parents/guardians.
East Side (Northbound) lanes will be reserved for people using wheeled devices, including bikes, skates, scooters, and skateboards.
Another way to think about it, the west side of the parkway will be transformed into a giant sidewalk with two-way foot traffic, and the east side of the parkway will become a two-way protected bike/rollway!6. Bring a reusable bottle, cup, or mug! There will be free water refill stations in each activity hub, as well as nearby businesses to purchase beverages from!
Activity Hubs
ArroyoFest 2023 will feature three distinct Activity Hubs with a diverse array of Arroyo-active community groups, performing and visual artists, and family-friendly games and activities. Each hub will offer extended hours, too, offering you time to relax and recovery after exploring the parkway.
- Lincoln Heights Hub (7am-1pm) – Lacy Street Neighborhood Park
- Highland Park Hub (7am-3pm) – Lummis Day Festival at Sycamore Grove Park
- South Pasadena Hub (7am-2pm) – Downtown Mission Street
