The cycling world calendar has dozens of thrilling races throughout the year to keep spectators and fans engaged. From One-Day classics to Grand Tours like the upcoming Tour de France, there are regular races to bet on every year.

Throw in international events organized at the Olympics and other World Championships, you can expect extra layers of cycling anticipation and engagement in the scene. Here’s a look at upcoming cycling events you can bet on in 2024.

1.       Criterium Du Dauphine (4th June – 11th June)

Since its launch in 1947, the Criterium du Dauphine is the traditional form check for cyclists competing in the Tour de France. This tournament was launched by the Le Dauphine Libere newspaper to boost circulation for L’Auto.

Many pro cyclists view the Dauphine as a preparation test for the Tour de France, but only 11 athletes have managed to win both races in a single year. Chris Froome has won both races thrice in the same year (201, 2015, 2013), while Jonas Vingegaard won both events in 2023.

The 2024 Dauphine test will feature star riders like Remco Evenepoel, Mads Pedersen, Primoz Roglic, and Aleksandr Vlasov. According to legal bookmakers for cycling at CheekyPunter, Remco, and Roglic are the favorites for this test.

2.       Tour de Suisse (9th June to 18th June)

Taking place 9-18 June 2024, the 87th edition of the Tour de Suisse will take cycling fans through an adventure in the mountains. Like the Criterium du Dauphine, this cycling test is also used by pro riders and teams to get ready for the Tour de France.

In last year’s tournament, Mattias Skjelmose won stage 3 with a summit finish to claim his first World Tour trophy at Villars-sur-Ollon. Juan Ayuso finished second after winning two stages, while Remco came third.

Top competitors expected to feature in this year’s iteration of the Tour de Suisse include Arnaud de Lie, Maxim Van Gils, and Marc Hirschi. Like in 2023, the tour will go through eight stages with two-time trials and about 18,000 meters of climbing.

3.       Tour de France (29th June – 21st July)

Tour de France is the world’s most famous cycling event, staged annually since 1903. This premier cycling tournament takes place over three weeks and attracts over 3.5 billion viewers worldwide. In 2024, the cycling tournament will take place from 29th June to 21st July in Florence, Italy for the first time.

The 111th edition of the Tour de France will feature world-class cyclists like the defending champion, Jonas Vingegaard, who ranks among the favorites for the title. However, a crash earlier in April broke Vingegaard’s collarbone, and that may give Tadej Pocagar the chance to take away the title. Other strong contenders include Roglic, Remco, and Ayuso.

Conclusion

Betting on cycling events is a great way to get involved in the racing action as you challenge yourself and test your knowledge of the sport. Fortunately, the world cycling calendar has plenty of events that give cycling fans unforgettable experiences all year.
