The recent wildfires in Southern California have caused widespread devastation, displacing individuals, families, and communities, and destroying homes and businesses. The Southern California cycling community has also been deeply impacted, with several of our cycling friends experiencing immense losses.
We are incredibly grateful for the firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and emergency personnel who have been working tirelessly under extreme conditions to save lives, homes, and natural habitats.
Supporting Those Affected by Southern California Fires
How You Can Help
Sadly, the Southern California cycling community has been impacted by the recent wildfires with many of our cycling friends displaced as well as losing their homes and businesses in the Eaton Fire in Altadena including Jeff Herring and Dorothy (Dot) Wong (SoCalCross), Steve Lubanski and Candace Frazee (The Bunny Museum) and Zap Espinosa (Cycling Journalist).
GoFundMe accounts have been established to support their recovery and rebuilding efforts. Any contributions are deeply appreciated:
Jeff Herring and Dorothy (Dot) Wong (SoCalCross):
They lost their home and all its contents, including essential work equipment. Their immediate priorities are securing long-term housing for themselves and their pets, as well as replacing their SoCalCross equipment, Jeff’s handyman tools, and Dot’s bike education materials.

Dayna shared, Sean and I were evacuated from our Altadena home last Wednesday due to the Eaton Fire.Unfortunately, it was confirmed that our home and most of what we own are a total loss. Many people have contacted us asking how they can help, so we set up this GoFundMe. Nothing is expected, but everything is appreciated. We thank you all in advance for whatever you can spare during this time.
Steve Lubanski and Candace Frazee (The Bunny Museum & Open Road Bicycle Shop)
The historic Bunny Museum, known worldwide for its vast collection of bunny-related items, was tragically destroyed. Steve and Candace, the museum’s co-founders, are determined to rebuild on the same land. Sadly, they also lost their iconic Open Road Bicycle Shop to the fire, which they currently do not plan to rebuild.
Steve and Candace shared on Facebook, Sad and heartbreaking to report that The Bunny Museum burnt to the ground. Open 26 years. The world’s only museum about everything bunny. Guinness World Record certified—1999, 2011, 2023. Saved only a few bunny items. Saved the cats and bunnies. The museum was the last building to burn around us as Steve so valiantly hosed the building down all night long, but when the building next door went down, it spread to the museum.
