A Global Talent Scouting Program to Discover the Next Road Cycling Star
Who will be the next rising star of road cycling? To find out, Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe has launched Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe RISING, an all-new global talent scouting challenge that gives aspiring cyclists from all corners of the world the chance to showcase their potential – and the opportunity of a lifetime: a pathway into one of the most prestigious teams in the sport.
Combining Digital Scouting and Real-World Evaluation
Combining digital scouting, real-world performance tracking, and elite-level evaluation, the program builds on the foundation of the successful Red Bull Junior Brothers initiative, which has uncovered talents such as Latvian rider Georgs Tjumins and Austrian prospect Anatol Friedl – both now making waves with Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe’s U19 team, grenke – Auto Eder. This time, the program is open to male cyclists aged 15 to 19, targeting a wider audience than before.
Georgs Tjumins’ Journey: From Discovery to Professional Aspiration
Georgs Tjumins: “I never imagined being seen by a top team like Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe. However, this program gave me the chance to prove myself, and now I’m riding with a clear goal: to make it to the WorldTour. It all started with one opportunity – and I grabbed it. That’s why I can really recommend Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe RISING to young athletes.”
Three Ways to Qualify for Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe RISING
Athletes can now sign up at redbullborahansgrohe.com/rising and qualify in three different ways: by completing selected Strava segments, by taking part in in-store tests at 20 Specialized stores worldwide, or by sharing their TrainingPeaks data. The top-performing riders will be invited to the Red Bull Experience Week in August 2025, hosted at the Red Bull Athlete Performance Center (APC) in Austria. There, participants will undergo professional-level assessments, training, and receive guidance from the coaches of Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe and grenke – Auto Eder. The most promising talents may be offered development contracts or long-term support within the Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe system.
A Data-Driven, Inclusive Approach to Cycling Development
John Wakefield, Director of Development at Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe said:
Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe RISING is a new, data-driven talent project that marks a fresh start in athlete development. Open to riders worldwide, it focuses on performance and potential over background — breaking away from traditional scouting models. Building on the Red Bull Junior Brothers Project, this next-gen program brings a more inclusive, modern approach to identifying and developing the next wave of cycling talent.
Building on Success: Ralph Denk’s Vision for Young Cyclists
Ralph Denk, CEO of Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe added:
Talent development has always been a core part of our philosophy at Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe. With Red Bull Junior Brothers, we took a bold step toward finding top cycling prospects globally – and the results spoke for themselves. Now, with Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe RISING, we’re building on that success with a more structured, data-driven and inclusive approach. This program gives young athletes around the world the chance to be seen, supported, and developed at the highest level. I’m excited to see who steps forward next.
