Brandon McNulty makes history at the Tour de Pologne

The first American to win Poland’s flagship cycling event shows the Tour de Pologne’s

growing prestige and highlights Poland’s landscapes and sporting spirit.

The 82nd edition of the Tour de Pologne finished just 24 hours ago, and Czesław Lang looks back on a race that will be remembered as the first ever to be won by an American rider, Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates – XRG), who follows Jonas Vingegaard on the event’s list of champions.

A Selective and Competitive Race to the Finish

“The Tour de Pologne has always been a race where riders in top form can prove themselves, which is exactly what McNulty did. I congratulate him on how he rode the course and approached the decisive time trial,” said Lang. “Compared to other stage races, it is much more open. We’ve seen this in the past, and again this year, with the final Time Trial deciding the winner on the last day.”

McNulty is also the first non-European athlete to win the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour — another source of pride for an event that is becoming increasingly international.

“This year, we designed a selective Tour de Pologne. The level of riders and competition was very high, keeping the race open until the very end. Cycling in Poland is constantly growing, and that makes me proud,” added Lang.

Showcasing Poland’s Scenic Routes and Sporting Passion

The Tour de Pologne is a key moment not only for the development of cycling in Poland, but also for promoting the country both domestically and internationally. “This year’s Tour de Pologne was incredibly exciting — from the beautiful start in Wrocław, through the challenging mountain stages, to the final Time Trial in Wieliczka. The millions of fans lining the roads across the country demonstrated just how popular cycling is in Poland. It was a true celebration of sport, uniting people beyond any divisions. Thanks to broadcasts in 65 countries, we were able to showcase Poland’s beauty to the world. I would like to thank all the fans and would like to invite you to next year’s edition — we will prepare another beautiful and thrilling route,” said Lang.

Spotlight on the 2025 Tour de Pologne Women

Lang also turned his attention to the third edition of the Tour de Pologne Women, which starts tomorrow. The race consists of three stages covering a total distance of 333.3 km, and features 20 teams, including seven World Tour squads. “The Tour de Pologne Women is both a dream and a mission that has become a reality. Women’s cycling is one of the fastest-growing sports, and it’s no surprise — the racing is fantastic, full of fight, passion and fearless riding. We’re seeing its popularity grow around the world, and the same will happen in Poland. We believe that now is the perfect time to establish another major event. This year, we have three stages: 12 August in Zamość, 13 August in Chełm, and the grand finale — Nałęczów to Kraśnik — in Kraśnik County. All of these will take place in the beautiful Lubelskie Voivodeship. I’m confident it will be an unforgettable spectacle, with two hours of live coverage each day on TVP and Eurosport.” he concluded.
