Duvendeck to Manage The Home Depot Center’s Velodrome and Event Center

7/15/11 - Two-time Olympian and local track cycling coach Adam Duvendeck was named manager of The Home Depot Center’s Velodrome and Event Center. In his new role at the 2,450-seat facility, Duvendeck will oversee the operations, marketing and programming for the nation’s most complete indoor track cycling facility and training center for USA Cycling’s National Track Cycling Team.

“We’re thrilled to officially welcome Adam to The Home Depot Center and recognize his wealth of experience, on and off the track,” said The Home Depot Center General Manager Katie Pandolfo. “Adam is no stranger to Carson, and his commitment to our facility and the community will be an asset as we move forward with expanding the reach and programming for the Velodrome and Event Center.”

An experienced coach and athlete and local community leader, Duvendeck has trained and coached at The Home Depot Center, and as an Olympian Mentor for community organization, Ready, Set, Gold!, he’s organized an annual clinic in Carson for local elementary schools to educate children and promote fitness. Most recently, Duvendeck coached the USA Paralympic Track Cycling team, where he worked with riders from development stages to the elite level, and founded Momentum Coaching Group, a coaching company dedicated to all cycling disciplines, including triathlon.  He has also served as the head sprint coach for the Canadian national track cycling team, as well as the head cycling coach at the University of California at Santa Barbara.

On the track, Duvendeck is a decorated track cyclist. A 2004 and 2008 Olympian, he is also a five-time U.S. Track Cycling National Champion and a five-time U.S. Track Cycling World Championship team member. “I am extremely excited to begin my time as manager of the Velodrome and Event Center. I was a part of the facility’s opening in 2004 and remember the incredible feeling I had walking into the only world-class velodrome in North America,” said Duvendeck.  “Since that day, I have spent much of my time here as both a coach and an athlete. I believe it will be my familiarity with the phenomenal facility and all of The Home Depot Center’s programs and venues, coupled with the experience I have gained in high-end athletics for the past ten years, which will positively see the Event Center through the next phase of its development.”

The Home Depot Center Velodrome and Event Center is part of the campus’ 125-acre multi-sport facility that is an Official U.S. Olympic Training Site and home to USA Cycling’s National Track Cycling Team. The indoor Velodrome boasts a 250-meter track and infield that features two indoor basketball courts and five volleyball courts. In addition to track cycling, the center hosts basketball, volleyball and tae kwon do tournaments, youth sports clinics, and was transformed into an indoor skateboard park for the 2006 X Games.
