It will be held on March 16th, 17th & 18th, with the backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains creating an arena for 800 cyclists and 100 plus children to put on their race faces and battle out 3 days of racing in different formats.

This year we welcome a new Race Director Al Wiscovitch who is looking forward to making this race a success for the cyclists and safe for the spectators, as well as a new club sponsor Stahl Erectors. In 2007 we have several professional cycling teams already committed, Rock Racing of Rock & Republic Clothing (With National Criterium Champion Kayle Leogrande  and young local resident pro, winner of Tour of Murrietta  2006 Jeremiah Wiscovitch), Jittery Joes, BMC, The National Polish team, Navigators Insurance Cycling and the woman’s Team Lipton Tea, ( defending champions) these Pro teams are also using the race to prepare for another stage race at Redlands the following week.

In 2007 we are supporting two local charities. Team Ruthy which is an organization for Breast Cancer. The second charity is for a local San Dimas 2 year old called Haley, who was born with out a smile. (Moebius syndrome) In order to get the muscle and nerve transplant $50,000 is required. So on day 3 of the San Dimas Stage race there will be several recycling receptacles for local residents and racers to deposit their used aluminum cans and plastic bottles which all proceeds will go to getting this little girl a smile. Local residents can also make donations to several local schools.

The first day this stage race takes the format of a 3.8 mile time trial up the Glendora Mountain Road. This is an individual effort by each cyclist and this year is sponsored by Chevrolet of Glendora. The overall winner of the time trial will wear the yellow jersey on day 2. (They will get to keep the jersey and each day a new yellow jersey will be given to the race leader to proudly wear just as they do in the Tour of France!)

The second day the cyclists will be racing in teams around Bonelli Park and up Canon. It is in cycling terms a road race and comprises of 72 to 96 miles of racing from age groupers to the elite and pro level in men and women’s team racing. The best viewing of the cyclists would be down Puddingstone Ave and inside Bonelli Park. This year the Road Race is sponsored by San Dimas Hospital. There will also be an award for which cyclist does the fastest hill climb at Canon for which they get to wear the Red polka dot jersey! The fastest sprinter who will get to wear the green jersey both these jerseys will be sponsored by Cannondale custom apparel, The most aggressive young professional rider will get to wear the white jersey this year exclusively sponsored by AW Professional Landscaping.

The final day is a Criterium which is where the cyclists will do 6 corners of speed from 55 minutes to 90 minutes down Palm tree lined streets of Down Town Old San Dimas.  This will be exciting as the racers not only compete for the podium but for fastest lap premiums. This stage will be sponsored by Cannondale bikes & Incycle bike stores.

The kids race will take place on Sunday and as in years past is sponsored by Shimano. This race is free to all children, there are only winners in this fun race. So now is the time to get your children’s bike tuned up and don’t forget the camera! Please remember helmets are mandatory.

All in all an action packed three days. Skill, speed & competitive racing will rock San Dimas. Look out for the colored jerseys, enjoy the expo by all the race patrons bring out the family and have a great day..this is our local race and we thank the citizens of San Dimas, Glendora, La Verne and Pomona for their support.
