Manhattan Beach Grand Prix Crowns New Winners


A select group of riders claimed wins at the 51st Annual Manhattan Beach Grand Prix under sunny skies and perfect beach weather. The day kicked off with a win in the Cat 4 race by Chad Moston (Velo Club LaGrange). Steven Salazar (Bahati Foundation) topped the podium with a win in the Cat 3’s. In the 55 +, Michael Birditt (Spy-Swami’s Cycling Team) took top honers, with Kenny Fuller (Team Simple Green/Bike Religion) taking the win in the 60 +. Richard Meeker (Breakaway from Cancer Masters) kept his winning streak alive by posting a win in the 45+, while Charon Smith (Surf City Cyclery/STERLING BMW) added another win in his long list of victories in the 35 +. In the women’s race, Shelby Reynolds won from a break of five to garner a win for the Helens/Cannondale Team. In the Cat 2 race, Cory Williams (SC Velo) made it look easy and sprinted to a win, while Ken Hanson (Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) powered to a win in the Pro race ahead of some very fast sprinters.
