Celebrate Cinco De Mayo Weekend at the Barrio Logan Grand Prix

Barrio Logan Grand Prix

The 17th Annual Barrio Logan Grand Prix takes place May 4th in Downtown San Diego near Petco Park and the Gaslamp District on one of Southern California’s “Classic Old School Downtown Figure 8 Criterium Courses!” The riders will compete for $6,000 in cash prizes, including $1,000 in the Peter Pountney Memorial 55/60+ and $1,000 in the James Kleba Memorial 45+ race, two SDBC members that we have lost recently. There will also be over $3,000 in merchandise primes!

In addition, the Barrio Logan Grand Prix is hosting the SCNCA Junior Criterium Championships again this year. Junior riders will be racing for the Pactimo Barrio Logan Grand Prix Junior State Champion jerseys, medals, trophies and tortillas!

The Barrio Logan Grand Prix is also part of the USA Cycling Road Development Race Series and will be featuring the Pro 1/2 Men, Pro 1 – 3 Women, Cat 3/4 Men, Cat 4 Men,  Cat 5 Men, Cat 3/4 Women and the always popular Community Kid’s Races, with “Free Helmets” to the first 200 kids to sign-up on race day.

Race Director and Race Announcer Ralph Elliott added, “Remember it’s not whether you win or lose, but it’s how much fun you have! So come have some fun this “Bikes in the Barrio, Cinco De Mayo, 2013 Weekend”.
