This years San Marcos Circuit Race started with beautiful weather and good sized fields.
The Women’s race started with a mixture of categories which left the race scattered over the course. However, it was good to see a large women’s field starting out together. Just like many of the other races, the Women’s race started out fast. This left the field to get smaller with each lap. As the race started coming to the closing laps, it looked like it might come down to a small field sprint. But, with two laps remaining Alison Jones (Sisterhood of Cycling) rode away from the field to take the win with a hard charging pack not far behind.

The Men’s Pro 1/2 race started out super fast. With the wind picking up and many strong riders coming off of good stage race form, this made for an exciting event as the attacks were coming early and often. This left riders dropping off virtually every lap.
Roughly 30 minutes in, the race saw a major break that had around 8 – 10 riders roll up the road. It didn’t look like they were coming back with most of the teams having teammates represented in the break. This left the field to resign to just having to find out what the results were after the race. However, the break started to attack itself and began to fall apart. The field was getting wind of the break falling apart and began chasing for the few remaining spots for a result. The field started to catch some of the remaining riders being dropped from the break who were struggling in the wind to try and hang on to their spot for a placing in the money. As the break was was falling apart, CashCall worked over the remaining breakaway companions to take all 3 podium spots with Fabrizio VonNacher (CashCall) taking the win.
