The world’s top track cyclists, featuring Olympians and World Championship medalists, will race in the final stop on the 2016-17 World Cup schedule before the international tour’s overall championship. The 2017 event marks the first World Cup race in the United States since 2008.
More than 200 of the sport’s top riders will compete across both team and individual events – Sprint (men & women), Keirin (men & women), Scratch (15 km men & 10 km women), Madison (30 km men & 20 km women), Individual Pursuit (women), Team Pursuit (women), Omnium (men), and the Team Sprint (men & women). The Los Angeles event will be the final major competition before the 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, to be held in Hong Kong on April 12-16.
The weekend’s racing will feature members of Team USA’s silver-medal winning Women’s Team Pursuit lineup from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games – Kelly Catlin (Arden Hills, Minn.), Chloe Dygert (Brownsburg, Ind.) and Jennifer Valente (San Diego, Calif.). The trio also helped the U.S. win gold in the event at the 2016 World Championships. Before competing in Rio, Dygert was named best young rider at the 2016 Amgen Breakaway from Heart Disease™ Women’s Race Empowered with SRAM.
