This was my first time attending the season opener of Over the Hump Mountain Bike Race Series presented by Mazda, which is located in Orange County at Irvine Lake just off of the popular cycling route Santiago Canyon.
Over the Hump is a great local race series that’s not far off the beaten path for many SoCal riders to attend. I felt like I was at a National mountain bike event of years past that had tons of riders showing up to have fun racing and an exciting expo area with a great overall venue that allowed you to get in and out of the course and back home easily.
The fields were stacked in all of the categories, including the kid’s races. After talking to some of the riders they thought that this might have been the best turnout for the Over the Hump Mountain Bike Race Series.
It was really cool to see all of the families and kids participating. I think the most impressive sight to see was all the kids lining up to have lots of fun out on the race course.
I look forward to attending the Over the Hump Mountain Bike Race Series presented by Mazda again in the future.
