Mammoth Gran Fondo Canceled Due to Inyo National Forest Closure

Mammoth Gran Fondo Canceled

We are sad to share that the Mammoth Gran Fondo has been canceled due to the recent closure of the Inyo National Forest due to the wildfires currently raging in Northern California. The Mammoth Gran Fondo, which is a favorite event for cyclists to do each year, offers beautiful vistas of the High Sierra’s with awesome views of the Sierra Nevada Range, Mono Lake and the White Mountains,  three different course options and a fun after-ride party.

The Mammoth Gran Fondo has shared the following message regarding the event cancelation and the refund options that are available below.

Event Update

With the recent closure of Inyo National Forest and strained firefighting resources during these difficult times, we are sad to announce the cancellation of the 2021 Mammoth Gran Fondo. While there are no fires threatening Mammoth Lakes or the surrounding areas at this time, wildfires continue to spread across the west and firefighting resources are extremely limited. Our thoughts are with the firefighters and communities across the west affected by these fires.

Refund Options

There are three options for your 2021 Mammoth Gran Fondo registration – receive a full refund through imATHLETE with no penalty, defer your registration to the 2022 Mammoth Gran Fondo scheduled on September 10, 2022 or donate your registration fee to support youth programming in Mammoth Lakes. Instructions for each option are available on MammothGranFondo.com. Any riders that have not opted for one of the 3 options by November 1, 2021 will be automatically deferred to the 2022 Mammoth Gran Fondo event. If you have any other questions, please send an email to [email protected].

A Bucket List Ride

The Mammoth Gran Fondo was chosen as a top-ten century bike ride by Bicycling Magazine for its “jaw-dropping vistas.” Situated on the eastern border of Yosemite National Park, the Mammoth Gran Fondo takes riders through the beautiful High Sierra with views of the Sierra Nevada range, Mono Lake and the White Mountains. The serene 102-mile route includes good pavement, very few stop signs and minimal traffic. Give it a try and test yourself against your friends and the mountains.
