The 18th Annual Tour de Murrieta kicked off the 2023 Omnium with the Downtown Grand Prix pb by The Mill Restaurant. The Tour de Murrieta is a well-run two-day community cycling event and festival that is a favorite for riders and fans to attend each year.
The Downtown GrandPrix festival was accompanied by an expo consisting of bicycle industry products, food and beverages, and a bicycle safety booth hosted by the California Highway Patrol and the Stage 2 Cycling Team.
In addition to the Grand Prix, the Kid’s Race presented by Pacific Western Bank of Murrieta gave kids 8 and under a chance to have fun on their bikes, practice their skills, and experience bike racing up close.
The racing was fast throughout the day. In the Pro men’s race, Cory Williams (L39ion of LA) narrowly out sprinted Theo Obholzer (SoCalCycling.com Team) who finished 2nd. Ryan Gorman (Mikes Bikes) rounded out the podium with 3rd.
In the Women’s race, Colleen Gullick (Team Skyline) took the win ahead of Holly Breck (DNA PRO CYCLING) in 2nd followed by Laurel Rathburn (Los Angeles Bicycle Club) in 3rd.
The Tour de Murrieta continues on Sunday with the Circuit Race pb Pulido Cleaning and Restoration where the racers will be battling it out on the rolling course and for a shot at the Omnium win.
