Jastrab Wins Valley of the Sun Stage, Carpenter Podiums in Spain

Jastrab Wins VOS Stage, Carpenter Wins Sprint Classification in Spain

Jastrab’s Takes First Win in Orange

Southern Californias, 17-year-old Megan Jastrab stormed to victory on stage two of the Valley of the Sun Stage Race. Jastrab was outnumbered and facing a headwind sprint but the first year professional showed poise, waiting until the final 100 meters to power past her competitors. She followed that up by finishing second in the criterium to move into fifth overall. “It feels great to open the season with a win in my first race with the team.”

Carpenter Claims Podium in Spain

Rally UHC Cycling’s Robin Carpenter soared to the Sprint Classification title at the Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia. Carpenter forced the breakaway on both stages of the UCI 2.1 race to build an unassailable lead in the Metas Volantes “Flying Goals” competition. It was Carpenter’s first European podium since winning King of the Mountains at last year’s Deutschland Tour.

In southeastern Spain, Robin Carpenter went on the attack for not one, but two stages in a row, to claim the blue jersey and hoist the Metas Volantes Sprint Competition Trophy above his head at the Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia. After falling short of the jersey on day one, Carpenter put things right in the race’s final intermediate sprint on day two. He jumped out of the peloton and bridged to the day’s breakaway, overtaking them just before the sprint line.

“This feeling never gets old,” said Carpenter. “It’s really nice not only for me but for the team to score a podium this early in the season.”
