Alison Jones, 36, of the Capo VW/Webor Team & Sisterhood of Cycling (SOC) in Southern California won first place in both the time trial & road race at the UCI – World Championships in TRENTO, September 2013. Ali has been a competitive mountain bike racer who made the decision to begin road racing in 2013. Ali has had an amazing race season in both road and mountain biking, placing first 65% of the time and landing on the podium (1st, 2nd) 85% of the time.
At the UCI World Championships in TRENTO Ali placed first for her age group in the Masters 35 for both the Time Trial and Road Race. She placed third overall for both the Road Race and Time Trial. Ali had some bad luck crashing in the time trial, but still won 1st place.
The UCI World Cycling Tour recapped the women’s event, “First female reaching the 1654m high mountain was Canadian Alison Jones who recovered well from her crash in the time trial. She took the M35 World title. Her best time was beaten by Italian Chiara Ciuffini (M16) who started in a later age group. Other titles were for Finnish Riikka Pynnonen (M30) and American Anne Perry (M40).”
