The Orange County Cycling Classic treated riders to two circuit races at Irvine Great Park, formerly the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.
The courses were  held on the tarmac of the old runways. Sunday’s stage featured a 1 kilometer dirt section that was hard packed, but had some loose sandy sections that claimed several victims throughout the day. In addition, the wide open area and courses that ran in all directions provided a good lesson in how to ride in the wind.
After two hard days of racing, Jen Whalen (SPY/Giant/Ride) and Bryan Larsen (BMW Development Team) pulled out  the Overall Titles in the Women’s and Men’s Omniums.
The Orange County Cycling Classic was a great venue and top notch event that is a welcome edition to the calendar.
