The Summer End Grand Prix marked the final race of the Ontario Series. In true Ontario fashion, the temperature was in the mid-nineties, which combined with the “End of  Season Burnout” takes a toll on the riders.
The Pro 1/2 race started off fast, with small breaks forming from the gun. After a regrouping, Christian Varley (B & L Bikes) escaped the peloton solo at the thirty five minute mark and was eventually joined by ten riders. The break contained a mix of riders from different teams, including three CashCall riders (Lee Muse, Stefano Barberi and Brian McCulloch), Lucas Binder (Spy/Swamis), Shawn Daurelio (Velo Club LaGrange), Chris Walker (Time Factory), Andrew Ramage (SC Velo), Brian Zinc (Revolution/Zoca), Chris DeMarchi (Monster Media) and Sean Mazich (Jelly Belly Cycling).
CashCall teammates Barberi and McCulloch took turns attacking the break, with Barberi eventually breaking free to solo in for the win. Lee Muse (CashCall) won the field sprint for 2nd followed by Sean Mazich (Jelly Belly Cycling) in third.
Andrew Bosco (SoCalCycling.com / Echelon Design) secured the Ontario Series Overall from the six Ontario events. Bosco’s SoCalCycling.com / Echelon Design Team teammates assisted him throughout the Series to earn the most points.
In the women’s race, Helen’s Team teammates Suzanne Sonye and Shelby Reynolds went one-two as they recently did at the Brentwood Grand Prix. Holly Breck (SC Velo-Empower Coaching) rounded out the podium for third.
