Long Beach New Year’s Day Ride: Coastal Miles to Start the Year

A Ride Built on Tradition
The Long Beach New Year’s Day Ride has become a reliable kickoff for the season, drawing riders year after year who value community and solid winter miles.

Pacific Coast Highway Route
The ride rolls out from Long Beach and heads south along the Pacific Coast Highway, picking up riders along the way. The group typically grows near Huntington Beach before continuing toward Dana Point. Riders can choose to complete a full PCH loop or return inland to the start.

Rain or Shine Riding
With rain in the forecast, expect classic Southern California winter conditions. The ride is still on and best suited for diehard cyclists who don’t mind wet roads and want to ring in the new year from the saddle.

The Experience
Flat terrain, coastal views, and a large peloton make this a straightforward, high-energy ride without the fluff—just steady miles and good company.

Distance
Approximately 90 miles total

Start Time & Location
The New Year’s Day Ride begins in Belmont Shore at Bay Shore Ave & 2nd Street at 7:55 AM. The group rolls through Long Beach/Alamitos Bay Marina and turns south from 2nd Street onto PCH at approximately 8:00 AM, picking up additional riders along the route.
